A launch-day checklist for your business website

Your new site looks good in the preview. Before you tell the world, run through this list. It takes about twenty minutes and saves a lot of “did you know your page says…?” messages.
The basics
- Your domain works. Open your address on your phone, with and without
www. - Contact details are right. Phone number, email, address and opening hours, everywhere they appear. Tap the phone number and the email link to make sure they open.
- Every page is reachable. Click every link in the menu and the footer.
The words
- The first sentence says what you do. Someone landing on your home page should know within five seconds what you offer and where.
- No leftover placeholder text. Search your pages for “example”, “lorem” and “TBC”.
- Reviews are real. Use real quotes from real customers, with their permission.
The pictures
- Photos are your own where it matters. Stock photos are fine to start; swap in photos of your space, your team and your work as soon as you can.
- Every photo has a description (its alt text), so people using screen readers know what it shows.
Getting found and getting paid
- Each page has its own title and description. That’s what Google shows in search results.
- Test a payment. If you sell anything, make one test purchase from start to finish and check the receipt arrives.
Then share it
Put the link on your Google Business profile, your social bios and your email signature. Then keep it fresh: a site that changes regularly gives people a reason to come back.
